Did You Know Sports Workshops Teach Confidence & Life Skills?
Before we created KaMana, we noticed there was an overall lack of confidence in female athletes. We often spoke to athletes who lacked confidence in themselves, their mindset, their understanding of their bodies, and how they were fuelling. The worst part was that many did not have the confidence to speak up about it. They did not know who to ask or where to look for help. This was a feeling we knew all too well and had navigated many times throughout our own athletic careers.
So we created KaMana: a series of confidence-building workshops to help the next generation of athletes navigate these challenges, not only by building confidence in their athletic ability, but also in who they are as people.
Confidence Workshops Build Skills That Last a Lifetime
KaMana Community exists to educate and empower athletes to build confidence so they can reach their potential in sport and life. Our workshops take a deep dive into topics that are not spoken about enough in female sport, including understanding the menstrual cycle, fuelling and an athlete’s relationship with food, body image insecurities, and self-belief.
Whilst these workshops are targeted at athletes, the information can be applied to anyone with any level of sporting ability. Whether you have a goal of making the Olympics or are simply trying to improve your fitness, there is always value in learning more about your body and mind.
Something that I will always cherish is seeing the moment when something clicks for someone in the crowd. Whether it is finally understanding something about their body they were unsure of, or when we share a story they relate to and realise it is okay to feel that way… it is the best feeling ever to see the impact we are having in the moment.

I love that after our workshops, many of the girls feel confident enough to be vulnerable and share their own stories and experiences with us. We have worked really hard to create an environment where people feel comfortable doing this.

Real-Life Skills You Gain from Confidence Workshops
Here are some of the real-life skills athletes gain from our workshops.
Learning to Handle Pressure and Setbacks
Overcoming obstacles is a huge part of sport and pursuing a goal. Obstacles come in all shapes and sizes, whether it is the pressure you feel before game day or dealing with a significant injury. There are many ways we can learn to cope with and overcome these challenges.
“A champion is defined not by their wins, but by how they can recover when they fall.”
Serena Williams
Building Healthy Self-Talk and Body Confidence
Unfortunately, body image insecurity is something almost every female athlete faces at some point. 90% of the girls we have worked with want to change something about their body and compare themselves to others. In our workshops, athletes learn practical techniques to manage negative thoughts, which can be used over time to develop confidence in their bodies and themselves.
Developing Communication Skills
As an athlete, it is incredibly important to be able to communicate how you are feeling with your coaches and support network. This is something we see as particularly challenging when it comes to the menstrual cycle, with only 20% of athletes feeling comfortable speaking to their coaches about it. Our workshops help girls gain a better understanding of what is happening in their bodies and how to articulate this with coaches and parents.
How an Athlete Wellbeing Course Supports Holistic Growth
Athlete wellbeing courses exist to educate athletes on how to best support themselves, while also educating those who work with athletes to provide high-quality care and support. We are passionate about helping parents, coaches, and teachers learn more about the menstrual cycle so they can better support their female athletes. With a stronger understanding of female physiology and what athletes may be experiencing, support staff are better equipped to help athletes reach their potential and achieve their goals.
This is why we created an online program alongside our workshops. KaMana’s Supporting Female Athletes Series is an educational online program designed for parents, coaches, teachers, and anyone who plays a role in supporting female athletes. Learn at your own pace as we bring you the latest research-backed information about the menstrual cycle, simplified for clarity and real-world application.
Benefits of this program:
Understand female physiology and how the menstrual cycle can impact performance and wellbeing
Become aware of menstrual cycle abnormalities and how to seek help
Learn the importance of encouraging athletes to fuel enough and fuel well
Hear stories from elite athletes and real-life situations where this information has been applied
Learn how to support athletes as whole people, not just performers
This program supports parents, coaches, and teachers in caring for athletes holistically.
Why Schools and Sports Clubs Are Investing in These Workshops
Our workshops cover essential topics that all athletes should be educated on. More schools and sports clubs are recognising that education in these areas is pivotal for athletes to reach their full potential.
“Harriet and Lizzie were sensational and impactful on their trip to Stanford, in coaches’ gatherings and a female athlete presentation on the menstrual cycle. Because they are great listeners and learners, have thrived in high-performance competition, and are dedicated to science-based protocols, I strongly recommend connecting with them to teach you and your team.”
John, Head Coach of the Stanford Water Polo Team
Not only do our workshops educate athletes, but they also provide a powerful way to create positive team cultures and stronger communities. We have seen the impact our workshops have had at both elite and grassroots levels, and all athletes can benefit from this knowledge.
Conclusion: An Investment That Pays Forward
Investing in confidence is an investment that extends far beyond sport. By equipping athletes with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to understand their bodies and minds, we are helping them build skills that will serve them for life. At KaMana, our goal is to empower athletes to feel confident, supported, and capable. Not just in their performance, but in who they are. When athletes are educated, understood, and backed by their communities, they are better positioned to thrive both on and off the field.
